CoQ10 Test$79

the details

If you don’t have enough CoQ10, those low levels may play a role in Parkinson's disease, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, and fibromyalgia. However, supplementation with CoQ10 may help with depression, exercise performance, and male fertility. And since it’s an antioxidant, it can even help you maintain healthy skin, gums, and blood pressure levels! [4][5]

Questions?

What are the common causes of CoQ10 deficiency?

Common causes of CoQ10 deficiency include: (1) Aging (2) Vitamin B6 deficiency (3) Mitochondrial diseases (4) Neurodegenerative disorders, diabetes, cancer, fibromyalgia, muscular and cardiovascular diseases (5) Oxidative stress, caused by an imbalance between antioxidants and free radicals (6) Side effects of statin treatments

What’s in my kit?

Each kit contains three lancets, one test tube, a biohazard bag, two ice packs, an insulated silver pouch, three alcohol pads, three gauze pads, three bandages, two name label stickers, two zipper bags, a foam holder, FedEx return envelope, and step-by-step instructions.

What will my results tell me?

Once you’ve sent your sample back to the lab, we’ll offer your results in 48 hours of the lab receiving the sample. Your results will tell you how much CoQ10 was in your sample. Below are the values used by our lab to determine how to categorize your CoQ10 levels: Optimal: >1.40 mg/L. Borderline: 0.70-1.40 mg/L. Low: <0.70 mg/L.

Should I take CoQ10 supplements?

Researchers have found very few negative effects of CoQ10 supplementation; however, it’s important to consult with your healthcare provider before taking any supplements.

CoQ10 + Migraines

CoQ10 levels can help prevent or reduce the severity of migraines. One 2002 study found that over half of people experiencing migraines had a 50 percent reduction in the number of days they had migraines after taking CoQ10 supplements.

CoQ10 + Heart Failure

If you’re one of the 6.2 million people living with heart failure, CoQ10 may be able to help. One study from 2014 found that CoQ10 may be a safe therapy for people experiencing heart failure, as it has few negative side effects or interactions with other drugs.

CoQ10 + Muscle Pain

Statins, a popular drug prescribed to individuals with high cholesterol, has been shown to reduce CoQ10 levels in the blood, which can cause muscle weakness. While research has been mixed, some studies have shown that CoQ10 supplementation may be able to reduce muscle pain as a side effect of statin use. Other research found that CoQ10 may be able to positively affect athletic performance and recovery. A 2008 study published in Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, researchers found that two weeks of CoQ10 supplementation decreased oxidative stress and tended to increase how long both trained and untrained athletes could exercise before reaching exhaustion.

CoQ10 + Fertility

Male fertility can be negatively affected by oxidative stress, a condition where there’s an imbalance of free radicals and antioxidants. But one study found that supplementing with 200-400 mg of CoQ10 for three months helped dramatically increase factors related to male fertility.

CoQ10 + Diabetes

According to one study, statin use can cause a 10 percent increase in your likelihood of being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Research published in the British Journal of Diabetes reported that CoQ10 supplementation improved blood sugar control, cardiovascular dysfunction, and resolved problems with large arteries.

CoQ10 + Cancer

Low levels of CoQ10 have been found in people with certain cancers, including myeloma, lymphoma, and cancers of the lungs, prostate, pancreas, colon, kidneys, head and neck. However, several studies have shown that CoQ10 can protect against heart damage from certain chemotherapy drugs and helps stimulate the immune systems of people with cancer.
